IFA POWERTRAIN

HALF SHAFTS

Half shafts come in pairs. They transfer torque from the transmission or from the differential to the wheels. The torsion of the chassis and the steering angle of the front wheels must be accommodated by the half shafts. Half shafts consist of a rigid shaft with two constant velocity joints at the ends. To ensure driving comfort, half shafts must keep the vibrations of the tires from the steering wheel.

IFA produces half shafts in Ujazd, Poland. Ujazd plant was opened in June 2017. IFA currently only produces half shafts for rear and all wheel drives in the premium vehicle segment. IFA will expand to front wheel drives and hence gain access to the rapidly growing market for battery-powered electrical vehicles.
